Authorities say a large search effort Thursday morning in Connecticut Hill State Forest ended with the discovery of a deceased person.
The Schuyler County Sheriff’s Office says they were called to Vanloon Road around 9 a.m. for a report of a missing person. The search involved multiple agencies, including the Tompkins County Sheriff’s Office, State Police, DEC, several local fire departments, and Amigo Search and Rescue.
After about two and a half hours, crews found the missing person dead in a wooded area in Tompkins County. No other information was released. The investigation has been turned over to the Tompkins County Sheriff’s Office.
The fire departments that participated were: Tyrone, Watkins Glen, Montour Falls, Odessa, Hector, Burdett, Mecklenburg, and Beaver Dams.
