Three new legislators and one returning member were sworn in at the Schuyler County Legislature’s annual organizational meeting.
Incumbent Laurence Jaynes and newcomers Jeffrey Fazzary, Robert Halpin, and Gail Walker took their oaths of office last Friday, administered by Schuyler County Judge Matt Hayden.
Once seated, the Legislature re-elected Carl Blowers as Chairman for 2026.He was the only nominee for the position. Blowers has chaired the Legislature every year since 2020.
Lawmakers also made several key appointments: Nicole Smith will serve as Clerk, succeeding Stacy Husted, Christopher Desrochers was named County Auditor, Kenneth Thurston will serve as Highway Superintendent, and Craig Bianco will continue as STOP-DWI Coordinator through the year.
