SHARE NOW

UPDATE: Mr. Bialosky is listed in critical condition at Strong with head and internal injuries. He was part of the Bon Ton Roulet, a seven-day bike tour through the Finger Lakes. Mr. Bailosky had rode from Ithaca and was headed to Keuka College when the accident occurred.

A bicyclist was struck by a car Tuesday afternoon on State Route 54 at the Bath Road intersection in the village of Penn Yan.

Dale Jensen of Penn Yan was driving south on Route 54 when he apparently failed to yield the right of way to the cyclist as he attempted to turn onto Bath Road. The injured bicyclist, 81-year-old David Bialosky, of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, was airlifted to Strong Memorial Hospital for head, shoulder, and internal injuries.

Jensen was ticketed for failure to yield the right of way.

The Penn Yan Fire Department and Ambulance, along with Yates County’s Office of Emergency Management and Mercy Flight all assisted the Yates County Sheriff’s Office at the scene.
