The Watkins Glen Fire Department responded to a structure fire at 3272 Reading Road in the Town of Reading. The call came in on Tuesday at 8:30 a.m., initially reported as a fire alarm, but Schuyler County later upgraded it to a structure fire, prompting a second alarm response.
Engine 33 from Watkins Glen arrived on scene within minutes and confirmed that the fire was coming from a bedroom on the alpha/delta corner of the residence. The crew made entry through the garage and was able to confine the fire to the bedroom. Overhaul operations, assisted by incoming agencies, addressed smoke and heat damage throughout the home.
Fortunately, there were no injuries. One resident was found outside the home and checked at the scene.
The Schuyler County Fire Investigation Team is investigating the cause of the fire, which has not yet been determined.
