A Beaver Dams woman has been arraigned in Schuyler County Court on multiple felony perjury charges.
According to the Schuyler County District Attorney’s Office, 53-year-old Etta Fitzpatrick was arraigned on March 12 on an indictment charging her with 16 counts of perjury in the second degree, each a Class E felony.
Prosecutors allege Fitzpatrick made false statements while under oath during police investigations and in petitions filed in Family Court. The statements reportedly involved allegations of abuse and harassment against her ex-husband.
Authorities say the alleged false statements were made on multiple occasions over several months and were intended to have her ex-husband arrested and prosecuted.
The case is being prosecuted by Schuyler County District Attorney Jeremy J. Hourihan.
The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
