A Schuyler County jury has found William Hunter, of Beaver Dams, guilty on multiple charges related to violations of a court-issued Order of Protection.
The jury reached its verdict on Wednesday, convicting Hunter of two counts of Criminal Contempt in the First Degree, both Class E felonies, and Stalking in the Fourth Degree, a Class B misdemeanor.
The case, prosecuted by Chief Assistant District Attorney Jeremy J. Hourihan, was tried over the course of three days.
According to prosecutors, the charges stemmed from Hunter’s repeated violations of an Order of Protection that prohibited him from contacting a protected individual. During the trial, the prosecution presented extensive evidence, including threatening text messages and voicemails sent by Hunter to the victim. The jury determined that Hunter knowingly violated the court order by engaging in a course of conduct intended to cause the protected party fear of physical harm.
Jurors also found that Hunter made repeated phone calls to the victim with the intent to harass, annoy, or threaten, further violating the Order of Protection.
Hunter is scheduled to be sentenced on October 16, 2025.
