A Bath man died after being involved in an SUV versus motorcycle accident in the village.
It happened shortly after two o’clock Wednesday afternoon on Geneva Street near the intersection of Shannon Street. When emergency crews arrived on the scene, they found 59-year-old Gary Strait pinned under the SUV. He was taken to Ira Davenport Hospital where he later passed away.
Police did not release the name of the driver of the SUV. Their investigation is ongoing and it appears distracted driving was a factor.
The Bath Police Department was assisted at the scene by the Steuben County Sheriff’s Office, AMR, Bath Fire and Bath Ambulance.
