A Steuben County man who was convicted of a sex offense six years ago pleaded guilty in U.S. District Court in Rochester this week to possessing child pornography.
In July of 2017, 38-year-old Joshua Wormley was convicted of attempted possession of a sexual performance of a child. Federal investigators say less than four years later, Wormley had a cell phone that had on it approximately 800 pictures and two videos of child pornography. Wormley admitted in court on Wednesday to possessing the pictures and videos found on the phone, some of which depicted prepubescent minors.
When Wormley is sentenced in August, he faces 10 to 20 years in prison.
The plea is the result of an investigation by the Federal Bureau of Investigation Child Exploitation and Human Trafficking Task Force, under the direction of Special Agent-in-Charge Matthew Miraglia and the Yates County Sheriff’s Office, under the direction of Sheriff Ronald Spike.
