92 Million Steps Recorded During Schuyler Steps Out

SHARE NOW

Another year is in the record books for Schuyler Steps Out, the community step-tracking program presented by Schuyler Hospital.

The Schuyler Steps Out Community Winner this year goes to Watkins Glen Schools with a cumulative average of 855,191 steps by week 6 – the weekly average started at 99,000 steps and finished at 129,000 steps for 15 walkers – that means their final average was over 18,000 steps/day.

The M.V.P Award this year went to Joe Michael – Material Milers.  Joe Michael doubled – and nearly tripled – his step amount from week one. He was always encouraging his teammates to take one more step than he did that day. He was very excited to have his step total increase weekly.

The Most Improved award was awarded to Kristine Gardner – Kickin’ It Schuyler Style.  Kristine was selected as Most Improved because she had the biggest increase. The first week she reported 43,254 steps, then increased by almost 50,000 steps the next week, followed by another almost 30,000 steps increase in the third week, which she basically maintained for the fourth week. She began working out every other day and converting her steps, and taking extra walks on the days she wasn’t working out. She had to slow down some during the fifth week because of an injury.

In all, the 9 teams put in almost 92 million total steps over the course of the 6-week program.
