4,350 Wreaths Delivered to Bath VA for Wreaths Across America

The Wreaths Across America semi-truck arrived in Bath on Monday, delivering 4,350 wreaths—nearly 363 cases—destined for the graves of veterans at Bath National Cemetery. Despite freezing temperatures, volunteers, veterans, families, and community members gathered to welcome the truck.

Wreaths Across America began in 1992, when founder Morrill Worcester placed surplus wreaths at Arlington National Cemetery. What started as a small volunteer gesture has since grown into a national movement built on three pillars: remembering the fallen, honoring those who serve, and teaching future generations about the value of freedom. Today, millions of wreaths are placed at cemeteries across the country, with Bath National Cemetery among the most significant sites in New York State.

At Bath, each wreath is laid by hand in a moment of quiet reflection, with volunteers speaking the veteran’s name aloud to ensure their service is remembered.

This year’s effort was made possible through the support of the AmeriCorps Seniors Advisory Council of Steuben County, whose organization and commitment helped bring the wreaths to the cemetery and coordinate the community tribute.

Residents are invited to take part in the wreath-laying ceremony on Saturday (December 13), at noon at Bath National Cemetery. Families, community groups, youth organizations, veterans, and supporters are all welcome to join in this annual tradition of remembrance.
