A major grant has been awarded to the Arc Chemung-Schuyler for its capital improvement project.
The Arc Chemung-Schuyler has been awarded a $291,429 Nonprofit Infrastructure Capital Investment Program (NICIP) grant, administered by the Dormitory Authority State of New York (DASNY). The Arc Chemung-Schuyler’s capital improvement project will be focused on making improvements to its Neighborhood Center, located at 103 Porter Street in Watkins Glen.
“We are thankful to DASNY for these grant funds, knowing that the much-needed updates and repairs to our facility will make a real difference in the quality of the space,” said Salvatore Garozzo, The Arc Chemung-Schuyler’s Chief Executive Officer. “The Neighborhood Center is our agency’s way of integrating The Arc’s cause into our community, providing an inclusive space for community meetings or events.”
The Neighborhood Center is a community-based building that serves a dual purpose. The Arc’s Day Habilitation Program is operated from this building, providing meaningful support to 60 individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in the Watkins Glen community. Additionally, the Neighborhood Center offers opportunities for community integration by supporting community events such as public meetings, business and/or school events, and more.
