It’s about neighbors helping neighbors. It’s volunteering at its finest. It’s gathering together for a common cause — making the community we live in a better place for all who call Yates County home. And in 2024, it marks a major milestone. The 25th installment of the community-improvement initiative Celebrate Service… Celebrate Yates (CSCY) will be held on Sunday.
“With this being the 25th anniversary of Celebrate Service…. Celebrate Yates Day of Service, it is a significant milestone that celebrates the enduring partnership between Keuka College and the Yates County Chamber of Commerce, and our ongoing commitment to serving and improving the local community,” said Kathy Waye, Keuka College’s director of the Field Period® program and community relations.
Organized by a team from Keuka College and the Yates County Chamber of Commerce, along with community members, CSCY is a day of volunteering to help a variety of non-profit organizations, agencies, and citizens throughout Yates County.
Volunteers are welcome to register on the day of the event, but are not guaranteed a t-shirt and will be assigned individual work placements.
CSCY begins on April 21 with a free brunch in the Geiser Dining Commons in the Dahlstrom Student Center between 11 a.m.-12:50 p.m. for all volunteers. A brief kickoff ceremony to celebrate the spirit of the day and recognize supporting sponsors will be held at 1 p.m. outside Dahlstrom before volunteers depart for work sites. Work should conclude around 4:30 p.m.
