The Hangar Theatre in Ithaca is receiving a significant boost thanks to State Senator Lea Webb, who has announced $250,000 in state funding to support upcoming renovations.
The funding comes through the New York Senate’s Community Resiliency, Economic Sustainability, and Technology (CREST) Program and will help preserve and improve the historic theatre space.
Since opening in 1975 in a converted airport hangar, the Hangar Theatre has become a significant part of Ithaca’s arts scene, hosting professional shows, youth programs, and community performances that draw audiences from across the region.
“I’m proud to have secured $250,000 in state funding to support renovations for the Hangar Theatre,” said Senator Webb. “This investment reflects our commitment to strengthening the institutions that make our communities so special. The Hangar Theatre is a treasure in our region, and I’m committed to supporting its role as a hub for creativity, education, and connection.”
