The Yates County Legislature on Monday approved the creation of several specialty rescue and emergency response teams.
Under the plan, Yates County would establish several specialized emergency response teams, including water rescue, hazardous materials, and fire investigation units, along with deputy fire coordinators. Officials say the teams will improve emergency response and public safety countywide. Members would be covered under New York’s Volunteer Firefighters’ Benefit Law.
A public hearing was held prior to Monday’s vote and no one spoke.
