Cell phone service in New York may be affected next Monday during the eclipse by the influx of traffic to the state.
According to the Democrat and Chronicle, thousands are expected to descend upon the Finger Lakes. The New York Division of Homeland Security says New Yorkers and visitors to the state should expect limited coverage in places where large gatherings are taking place that day.
State officials and local governments have also been communicating with three major cell service providers over the past year to prepare for the surge in cellular bandwidth that’s expected to come with the large number of visitors.
