Special Olympics New York Fall Games Set for Next Weekend

The 2025 Special Olympics New York State Fall Games are set to return to Glens Falls October 17–18, bringing together about 900 athletes and coaches from across the state to compete in seven sports: bocce, cross country running, cycling, equestrian, golf, soccer, and softball.

All events are free and open to the public. The weekend kicks off Friday with youth programs, health screenings, and the traditional Opening Ceremonies at Glens Falls City Park.

Friday’s schedule includes the Young Athletes Experience at the Morse Athletic Complex in Queensbury from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., where local elementary students with and without disabilities will participate in inclusive games and activities. The Statewide Athlete Leadership Council meets earlier in the day at the Queensbury Hotel, followed by Healthy Athletes Screenings at City Park beginning at 4:30 p.m.

An Honored Guest Reception will recognize Capital Region schools that earned national “Unified Champion” status for inclusion efforts. The event begins at 5:30 p.m. at the Queensbury Hotel.

Opening Ceremonies start at 7:30 p.m. in Glens Falls City Park, featuring the parade of athletes, speeches from local leaders and Special Olympics officials, and the lighting of the cauldron.

Saturday’s competition schedule (9 a.m.–3 p.m.)

  • Bocce – Adirondack Sports Complex, Queensbury
  • Cycling – Warren County Municipal Center, Lake George
  • Golf – Brookhaven Golf Course, Porter Corners
  • Cross-Country Running – Cole’s Woods, Glens Falls
  • Soccer – Morse Athletic Complex, Queensbury
  • Softball – Morse Athletic Complex and Adirondack Sports Complex
  • Equestrian – Skidmore College Van Lennep Riding Center, Saratoga Springs
