In just 24 hours, the Greater Rochester and Finger Lakes region mobilized to donate $912,522 to 600 local not-for-profits during ROC the Day. ROC the Day is a 24-hour, online giving extravaganza that gives people in our community an opportunity to support not-for-profit organizations doing great work in the nine-county Greater Rochester area. Donors were able to browse through our catalog of 600 not-for-profits and give to causes they care about in one transaction.

The event is hosted and managed by United Way of Greater Rochester and the Finger Lakes. In its 13-year history, ROC the Day has raised more than $11 million for not-for-profits in the nine-county Greater Rochester region, which includes Yates, Ontario, Seneca, and Wayne.

“The work of our not-for-profit sector is critical,” said Jaime Saunders, president & CEO of United Way of Greater Rochester and the Finger Lakes. “Year after year, our community shows up, leans in, and gives what they can on ROC the Day. I am constantly blown away at the immense heart of our community.”

This year’s ROC the Day sparked even more donations through two incentives sponsored by Glover-Crask Charitable Trust:

  • Every odd hour (1 a.m., 3 a.m., etc.), a lucky ROCstar donor was randomly chosen to give an extra $500 to the charity of their choice.
  • Additionally, every even hour (2 a.m., 4 a.m., etc.) the registered not-for-profit with the highest number of unique donors received an extra $500 bonus.

Visit www.ROCtheDay.org for more details about the event and the full list of not-for-profit participants.
