A retired pediatrician says he wants to be the Republican nominee in the 24th Congressional District come November. Dr. Phillip Gioia was a pediatrician in Auburn for 40 years. He says he wants to promote health and savings in the traditional Republican ways.
“Respecting and helping all people as Republicans have done since Seward and Lincoln at the start of the party,” said Gioia. “Developing a modern economy for our times as with U.S. Grant. Promoting government savings as with Harrison and McKinley. Seeking expert and professional Federal workers as Garfield. Protecting the health of our people and our environment as did Theodore Roosevelt. He proposes a national health program as did Nixon, Mitt Romney, and Newt Gingrich.”
Gioia said he has been walking the 24th District directly contacting all people to learn about problems with their health and savings.
“Many people, even those with insurance, face large medical and pharmacy bills. Even middle-income people suffer bankruptcy whenever medical problems hit.”
Gioia said businesses in the area are also not immune.
“Small and medium-sized businesses often have a hard time competing due to the high medical expenses including the cost of adequate insurance. Many people would like to have our government to start paying off its large debts, especially when times are good. They fail to believe that cutting money to the IRS and/or giving big business tax breaks will help. They are disgusted by the failures of the current Republican House to find moderate and practical solutions to help all people.”
Gioia joins Geneva’s Mario Fratto in challenging Congresswoman Claudia Tenney for the Republican nomination.
