News Release-
Karolyn “Zuzu” Grimes will present the 2024 George Bailey Award to the Seneca County Suicide Prevention Coalition as part of the 78th Anniversary Celebration of It’s a Wonderful Life. The ceremony will be held at 10:00 am on Saturday, December 14 at Trinity Episcopal Church, 27 Fall Street, Seneca Falls. Everyone is encouraged to attend, especially those whose lives have been touched by the Seneca County Suicide Prevention Coalition (a United Way of Seneca County program). This is only the second time in 21 years that an organization has received the George Bailey Award.
The Seneca County Suicide Prevention Coalition has been selected as the recipient of the George Bailey Award because of their efforts to promote the value of each person, show people that they are not alone, and that each life touches so many other lives.
“It’s easy to be in a small community and still feel like you’re the only one. Mental health affects everyone, just as physical health does. This Coalition is a county-wide collaborative effort to reduce stigma and respond to a community need. Response to such a complex issue such as suicide is more than any one agency or resource can address. The tremendous collaborative effort between our local law enforcement and Seneca County Community Counseling Services is a great example of local services working together to reduce stigma and create a safer, healthier community for us all.”
— Rhonda Jasper, Executive Director, United Way of Seneca County
