One woman is facing animal cruelty charges after leaving three animals in squalor at a Clifton Springs apartment.
According to the Ontario County Humane Society, Alyssa Rondon was scheduled to be evicted from her East Main Street apartment on January 4. Before that date, she vacated the residence, leaving behind two grey kittens and a tan German Shepherd.
The society found the apartment covered with urine and feces as well as rotting food. No food or water was left for the animals and they were covered in fleas and gnats.
Along with the Ontario County Sheriff’s Office, the society removed the animals, and a warrant was issued for the 33-year-old.
Rondon was arrested at a Geneva motel on the charges of Animal Cruelty and Animal Abandonment. She was then taken to the Ontario County Jail for arraignment.
Both the kittens and the dog are being cared for at the society’s Happy Tails Animal Shelter.
