An effort to dissolve a Wayne County village has been overwhelmingly denied by voters.
Wolcott village residents yesterday voted 317-67 against getting rid of the village government.
The move would have consolidated Wolcott into a single town, and would have left 14 people without jobs, including two police officers. Consolidation of local governments is often done to reduce tax rates and improve service efficiencies.
