The Wayne County Sheriff’s Office reports the arrest of a Village of Wolcott man following an investigation into a report of a missing juvenile.
Deputies arrested 18-year-old Jon Godkin on a charge of obstructing governmental administration in the second degree.
According to the Sheriff’s Office, the charge stems from a missing juvenile report in which the child was believed to be in the area of Godkin’s residence. Investigators allege that during the course of the investigation, Godkin intentionally withheld critical information and provided false information, which prevented deputies from locating the juvenile.
Authorities later determined the missing juvenile was inside Godkin’s apartment and that Godkin was aware of her presence.
The juvenile was located safely and returned to her parents.
Godkin was taken into custody, processed at the Wayne County Jail, and issued an appearance ticket. He is scheduled to appear in Village of Wolcott Court at a later date.
The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
