A traffic stop this week in Cayuga County has led to the arrest of a Wayne County man.
State Police report pulling over a car just before 9:00p on Wednesday in the Town of Mentz with a suspended registration due to having no insurance. The driver, 21-year-old Cayla Blaisdell of Wolcott, was unable to produce valid proof of insurance.
During the investigation, police found the passenger, Robert Wickman, also of Wolcott, to be in possession of a firearm inside the vehicle. A search of the vehicle turned up a loaded Smith & Wesson .40 caliber handgun and 122 grams of concentrated cannabis.
Wickman was taken to the state trooper barracks in Auburn for processing and charged with Criminal Possession of a Weapon, a felony, and Unlawful Possession of Cannabis, a violation. He was then taken to Cayuga County CAP for arraignment.
