Yesterday was the 43rd annual Carp Derby and the winning fish almost matched the number of years that the derby has been held in Seneca Falls and Waterloo.
Shorty Finnerty of Waterloo reeled in a 42.6-pound carp to take first place and the $500 prize.
The derby started in Seneca Falls by the radio station WSFW, then it was taken over by the Grumpy Old Men’s Club, and now is based in Waterloo sponsored by the Waterloo Rotary Club.
