The New York State Police are investigating a fatal crash that occurred on Friday, around 7:40 p.m., on State Route 104 in the town of Sodus.
Authorities say a 2016 Chevrolet Colorado pickup truck, operated by 41-year-old Robert Meyers of Webster, struck the rear of a motorcycle that had slowed to make a left turn into a residential community. The 25-year-old motorcyclist was ejected and pronounced dead at the scene.
Following a DWI investigation, Meyers was determined to be impaired. He was charged with Vehicular Manslaughter in the 2nd Degree (D Felony), Driving While Intoxicated, and DWI with .08% BAC or greater.
The investigation remains ongoing.
The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
