Seneca County could see a lower property tax rate next year if proposed budget changes are approved.
The county’s Ways & Means Committee will review the plan Tuesday night. Under the new proposal, the tax rate could drop from $4.85 to $4.19 per $1,000 of assessed value, meaning a median $130,000 home would pay about $545 a year — roughly six dollars a month more than last year. County officials say the adjustments aim to reduce the projected levy increase from 33% to 15%, while keeping essential services intact.
