A Wayne County man faces five to 20 years in prison if convicted after being arrested on federal charges of receiving and possessing child pornography.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Meghan K. McGuire, who is handling the case, stated that according to the complaint, in August 2022, New York State Police investigators working undercover online, downloaded approximately 36 files of suspected child pornography from an IP address later traced to 60-year-old Frederick Trivett, of Newark. On January 4th, State Police executed a search warrant at Trevitt’s residence, seizing multiple electronic devices. A forensic analysis discovered more than 100 child pornography files on a laptop computer.
Trevitt made an initial appearance before U.S. Magistrate Judge Marian W. Payson and is being held.
The criminal complaint is the result of an investigation by Homeland Security Investigations, under the direction of Special Agent-in-Charge Matthew Scarpino and the New York State Police, under the direction of Major Brian Ratajczak. Additional assistance was provided by the Wayne County District Attorney’s Office.
