Wayne County Man with Prior Sex Abuse Conviction Sentenced in Federal Case

A Williamson man with a prior conviction for sexually abusing a child has been sentenced to more than 13 years in federal prison for possession of child pornography.

Federal prosecutors say 26-year-old Joseph Hudson III was sentenced on Friday to 156 months in prison, followed by 15 years of supervised release, by U.S. District Judge Charles J. Siragusa.

According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office, the case began on March 14, 2024, when the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children received a tip from Microsoft reporting that suspected child sexual abuse material had been uploaded to one of its platforms. The information was forwarded to the New York State Police, who traced the uploads to Hudson, a registered sex offender.

Investigators later executed a search warrant at Hudson’s residence and seized his computer. A forensic examination recovered more than 100 images and videos depicting the sexual exploitation of minors.  He pleaded guilty to the charge back in August.

Prosecutors noted that Hudson was previously convicted of first-degree sexual abuse for engaging in sexual contact with a child under the age of 11.

The investigation was conducted by the New York State Police and Homeland Security Investigations.
