A Wayne County man has been arrested following a drug investigation that began nearly a year ago, authorities announced on Sunday.
Modesto Rodriguez, a resident of Route 31 in the town of Arcadia, was taken into custody after law enforcement tied him to the sale of crack cocaine during a months-long investigation by the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office. According to officials, Rodriguez allegedly sold crack cocaine to undercover officers in a series of controlled buys.
The investigation culminated last July when a search warrant was executed at Rodriguez’s home. During the search, deputies recovered approximately 4.6 ounces of crack cocaine as well as a stolen, loaded handgun.
Rodriguez now faces multiple felony charges, including criminal possession of a controlled substance and criminal possession of a loaded firearm. He was also charged with two counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance with intent to sell, and criminal sale of a controlled substance.
Despite the serious nature of the charges, Rodriguez was released on appearance tickets and is expected to answer the charges in court at a later date.
The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
