The man accused of kidnapping a woman from her Wayne County apartment is facing an additional charge out of Cayuga County.
On January 9, Cayuga County Sheriff’s deputies assisted in the arrest of Chad McDonald who was wanted by the Newark Police Department for taking a woman from her Woodside Drive apartment and forcing her into his car.
The woman was eventually able to flee the car and run to an approaching vehicle after McDonald stopped his car. After her escape, McDonald drove off.
Deputies believed the 50-year-old was in the area of River Road in the Town of Conquest. After discovering a Jeep Renegade he is accused of stealing, deputies determined McDonald was at a nearby residence. After a short standoff, he surrendered and was taken into custody. He was then turned over to the Newark Police Department on the charges of kidnapping, grand larceny, robbery, and strangulation as well as an outstanding warrant for assault from a prior domestic incident.
The sheriff’s office conducted a separate investigation which alleges the victim from Wayne County had been at the River Road residence and held against her will, having been threatened by McDonald.
After being released from jail on Wednesday, McDonald was arrested by the Cayuga County Sheriff’s Office on a felony charge of kidnapping. He was subsequently arraigned and turned over to the Cayuga County Jail. He is scheduled to answer the charge against him at a later date in Conquest Town Court.
