A Wayne County 911 dispatcher helped deliver a baby over the phone, Thursday morning.
Around 8:30a, the 911 center received a call from an individual saying his girlfriend was in labor. Dispatcher Robert Montemorano gave emergency medical dispatch instructions, helping the caller deliver the child. The mother and child were then taken to the hospital via ambulance.
“The calm coaching and professionalism of Dispatcher Montemorano is a fine example of the excellent service provided every day by all of the team members in the Wayne County 911 Center. I am proud of Dispatcher Montemorano and the entire Dispatch team” said Katie Dean, 911 Operations Manager. “We wish the family and newborn baby all the best.”
Wayne County 911 says all of its dispatchers are trained to the International Academies of Emergency Dispatch standards and certified as Emergency Medical Dispatchers.
