Canandaigua Police Department News Release –
On July 1, 2023, at approximately 8:08p.m., officers of the Canandaigua Police Department, arrested 25-year-old Sergio A. Ortega, of Waterloo, NY for one count of Attempted Rape in the Second Degree.
It is alleged that following an internet conversation with a person who Ortega believed to be a 14-year-old child, he traveled to the City of Canandaigua with the intent to engage in sexual intercourse with the child. Police were subsequently notified of the arrangement and Ortega was instead arrested by a Canandaigua Police Department Detective on that date.
Ortega was arrested and released on an appearance ticket to appear in Canandaigua City Court at a later date.
