Volunteers Needed as Geneva Salvation Army Prepares for Holiday Season

SHARE NOW

As the holiday season begins, the Geneva Salvation Army is calling for more volunteers to support its expanding community programs — from bell ringing to food pantry assistance and youth programming.

Volunteers are essential to keeping the organization’s services running, according to Captain Manuel Sulka who noted the rising demand for food assistance and uncertainty surrounding SNAP benefits.

The food pantry is open Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., and the organization is currently seeking donations of any non perishable items.

Beyond the pantry, volunteers can help with the weekly free music and arts program for children, administrative support, or the Christmas food basket and toy distributions. Last year, the Salvation Army served 350 families through the holiday program, and a similar turnout is expected this December.

Holiday distribution dates are set for Dec. 10–11 for food baskets and Dec. 17–18 for the Angel Tree toy program. Families can register through the Salvation Army of Geneva Facebook page by submitting basic identification and children’s birth certificates.

Volunteer information and sign-up forms can be found on the Salvation Army of Geneva Facebook page.
