Nearly 24 hours after he went missing when the boat he was operating was involved in a collision, the body of a local man was recovered by police from Sodus Bay Monday night.
An initial investigation showed 59-year-old Rodney Bundschuh, of Victor, and his passenger were ejected from the cigar boat they were in following a collision at around 7:30 Sunday night. After the collision, 57-year-old Judi Bonk-Guy, also of Victor, was brought to shore by other boaters. She was airlifted to Strong by Mercy Flight and is listed in guarded condition with undisclosed injuries.
Searchers located Bundschuh’s body just after 8 Monday night.
Investigators are still looking into the circumstances that led to the fatal accident.
The Wayne County Sheriff’s Office was assisted in the search and recovery by New York State Police, the DEC, and by the Sheriff’s OFfices in Monroe and Ontario counties.
