Two Injured in Canandaigua Rollover Accident

SHARE NOW

At approximately 2:40 Wednesday afternoon, Canandaigua Fire and Canandaigua Emergency Squad as well as Ontario County Sheriff’s and New York State Police responded to County Road 30 near Cooley Rd. for the single-car rollover crash with two people trapped.

According to the Ontario County Sheriff’s Office, 67-year-old James Burgess, of Bloomfield, was driving west when he attempted to miss another car that was stopped waiting to turn left onto Cooley Road and crashed into the ditch causing a rollover. Burgess and his passenger were taken to Thompson Hospital for minor injuries. While units were en route, the two patients self-extricated from the vehicle with assistance from bystanders.

Approximately 20 minutes later, while crews were working the crash, Canandaigua Fire and Canandaigua Emergency Squad were alerted to and responded to Candlewood Apartments for the report of a structure fire with the unit’s 1st-floor deck involved. Truck 281 arrived on the scene with a mulch fire and a small deck fire.

The fire was quickly extinguished with minor property damage.
