Two Injured after Three Car Crash in Manchester Tuesday Morning

SHARE NOW

Part of State Route 21 in Manchester was closed for over an hour Tuesday morning after a three-car crash.

According to the Ontario County Sheriff’s Office, deputies, along with members of the Manchester Fire Department, Shortsville Fire Department, and Finger Lakes Ambulance, responded to the area near the intersection of Route 21 and Latting Road at around 8:00a for a reported motor vehicle accident with injuries.

Deputies further report that 44-year-old Ashley Bardun of Shortsville was driving a 2012 Volkswagen Jetta south on Route 21 when she stopped to make a left-hand turn onto Standpipe Road. 37-year-old Garrett Delgatto of Manchester was also traveling south on Route 21, towing a trailer with a 2021 Ford F350.

Delgatto attempted to slow down and move to the shoulder to avoid hitting Bardun, but was unable to do so. Instead, he struck the rear of Bardun’s vehicle, pushing it into the northbound lane. This caused 35-year-old James Crossno of Oaks Corners to strike Bardun’s vehicle a second time with a 2009 Honda Civic.

Crossno and Bardun were taken via ambulance to Thompson Hospital for evaluation of crash-related injuries.

All three vehicles had to be towed from the scene. The trailer was undamaged in the crash and was removed by its owner.

Route 21 was closed between County Road 19 and Shortsville Road from approximately 8:00-9:30a.

Bardun was cited for stopping in the roadway and failing to signal.

The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
