A home in the town of Geneva sustained heavy internal fire damage as a result of a fire that broke out early Saturday morning.
Investigators believe the fire at 24 Bay View Terrace was likely due to an electrical power strip but their investigation is still ongoing at this time. The home sustained extensive internal fire damage. Both homeowners, Virgil and Monica Smaltz, were able to escape the 2 a.m. fire without injury.
Geneva, White Springs, and West Lake Road fire departments responded to the scene along with the Finger Lakes Emergency Squad and the Ontario County Sheriff’s Office.
