The Ontario County Sheriff’s Office says two people were hurt in a crash Saturday afternoon that ended with one vehicle catching fire in Gorham.

Deputies responded around 1:53 p.m. to the intersection of State Routes 245 and 247. Investigators determined 41-year-old Stephen Crowley of Rochester was driving south on Route 247 when he failed to yield at a stop sign and struck a Jeep Grand Cherokee driven by 73-year-old Martin Runner of Stanley.

The collision caused Crowley’s Kia Rio to catch fire, but deputies say he was able to get out before the flames spread. He was taken to Thompson Hospital for treatment of minor injuries. Runner also suffered minor injuries but was not transported.

Rushville Fire Department and Middlesex Ambulance assisted at the scene. Crowley was issued a traffic citation for failing to yield at a stop sign.
