Two Canandaigua residents have been charged with assault and intimidating a victim or witness following an incident that happened in the city on Monday.
It is alleged that 34-year-old Abhay Thapar and 65-year-old Rita Thapar intimidated and caused physical injury to another person with a dangerous instrument due to the victim calling the police to file a report. The alleged dangerous instrument used was not identified by police.
The Thapars were being held in police custody to await arraignment.
The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
