UPDATE: Two Airlifted from Fayette Accident

Seneca County Sheriff Tim Thompson reports that on Wednesday May 1st, 2024, at around 5:28pm, Deputies responded to the area of State Route 96A and East Lake Road in the Town of Fayette, for the report of a two-car personal injury crash.

Upon arrival, Deputies observed significant damage to both involved vehicles and multiple occupants were injured.

Upon further investigation it was made known that Cody J. Maher, age 28, of 2750 Pre-Emption Street Geneva, NY had been traveling on East Lake Road in a grey Chevrolet Silverado when he failed to yield the right of way at a posted stop sign located at the intersection of East Lake Road and State Route 96A. Cynthia Myers, age 76, of Ovid, NY was traveling south bound on State Route 96A in a red Jeep Renegade when Maher’s vehicle pulled out in front of Myers. Myers’ vehicle struck Maher’s vehicle at this time causing significant front-end damage to both vehicles. Cynthia Myers and her passenger John Myers, age, 79 of Ovid, NY sustained significant injuries from the crash and were subsequently transported by ambulance and helicopter to Strong memorial hospital for further evaluation and treatment.

Maher was issued a uniform traffic ticket in relation to the crash and will answer the charge in the Town of Fayette Court at a later date. The Border City Fire Department, North Seneca Ambulance, and Mercy Flight assisted the Seneca County Sheriff’s office on scene.

Two people were seriously injured Wednesday afternoon when they collided with a pickup truck near the intersection of Route 96A and East Lake Road in Fayette.

Mercy Flight sent two helicopters to take them to hospitals.  One helicopter came from Canandaigua, the other from Marcellus.

Seneca County Sheriff’s Deputies are investigating.  Assisting at the scene were North Seneca Ambulance and the Border City Fire Department.

The Geneva Fire Department set up a second landing zone in the Lowe’s parking lot.
