Town of Gorham to Hold Special Election Next Week

Residents of one Ontario County town will vote in a special election next week on whether their highway superintendent will remain elected or be appointed by the Town Board.

The Gorham Town Board is seeking to make the change for what it says is an effort to better safeguard taxpayers’ dollars and the ability to appoint a superintendent based on professional qualifications is in the best interest of all who use town roads.

The town’s registered voters will be able to cast a ballot on Tuesday from noon until 8 at either the Crystal Beach or Gorham Fire Departments.
