One Finger Lakes community is proposing a local law that would place requirements on property owners to ensure their projects don’t contribute to increased flooding. Geneva Town Supervisor Mark Venuti says the proposal focuses primarily on obtaining excavation work permits.
The requirement to get a permit was for a larger area and we’ve made that area smaller,” said Venuti. “People now have to come into the Code Office to take a lot to make sure they aren’t doing something that’s going to affect people downstream. You don’t want your neighbor moving land around and all of a sudden you’re taking their water.”
A public hearing will be held on the proposal at Tuesday’s town board meeting at 6.
