A Finger Lakes-based non-profit dedicated to providing emotional, physical, and financial support to adults living in Ontario, Seneca, Wayne, Yates, and Schuyler counties diagnosed and being treated for cancer had a memorable Friday.

In conjunction with Friendly Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram of Geneva, Thrive to Survive sold 2,191 raffle tickets for a chance to win a donated 2024 Jeep Compass. The drawing was held Friday at Friendly in Geneva and Darlene Dougherty, of Geneva, was the winner. Organizers say approximately $60,000 was raised through the raffle with numbers being finalized next week.

Also on hand Friday was State Senator Pam Helming, who presented Thrive to Survive with the New York State Senate Empire Award, which recognizes the contributions and achievements of businesses in New York State.

Senator Helming said, “Since its founding in 2012, Thrive to Survive has been a lifeline for families across Geneva and the Finger Lakes, raising one million dollars to support those facing cancer. By providing emergency financial assistance for co-pays, monthly bills, and essential expenses, this organization brings much-needed hope and stability to patients and families during life’s most challenging times.”

Pamela Venuti, Thrive to Survive Executive Director and Co-Founder added, “Receiving the New York State Senate Empire Award is truly an honor. This award is a confirmation of the commitment Thrive to Survive founders, board members, and community supporters have for providing cancer support programs and for improving the lives of those in treatment for cancer. We are excited for the future and look forward to supporting the area for years to come. We are incredibly grateful to Senator Helming for this recognition.”
