Three inmates at the Ontario County Jail are facing additional charges after separate investigations into violence inside the facility.
On Monday, deputies charged Yahir Irisarri and Michael Enright with fifth-degree conspiracy. Investigators say the two conspired to start a fight between other inmates, leading to a felony-level assault. Both men were arraigned in CAP Court and remain held on bail. They are due back in Hopewell Town Court at later dates.
Also on Monday, Leon McDaniel was charged with second-degree assault. Deputies say the charge stems from a July 23 incident in which he assaulted another inmate while being held at the jail on unrelated charges. McDaniel was also arraigned in CAP Court and is being held on bail, with a future appearance scheduled in Hopewell Town Court.
Authorities have not released details on the conditions of the assault victims.
The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
