Three Syracuse men were airlifted to Strong Memorial Hospital following a two-car collision in Phelps Tuesday morning.
Police say 28-year-old Leodan Vargas was driving west on Cross Road at around 8 o’clock when he failed to yield at the intersection of County Road 6 to a northbound tractor-trailer driven by 35-year-old Matthew Purdy of Clyde. Purdy was unable to avoid the collision and struck the Dodge Avenger Vargas was driving.
Vargas and his two passengers, 30-year-old Miguel Cruz-Diaz and 27-year-old Ernesto Guellen-Farias suffered non-life-threatening injuries and Purdy refused treatment at the scene.
The Ontario County Sheriff’s Office’s investigation into the accident is ongoing.
