NEWS RELEASE-
GENEVA, NY, AUGUST 5, 2024— The Dove Block Project, a community arts center in historic downtown Geneva, is pleased to announce it has received a $21,000 arts grant award from the Max and Marian Farash Charitable Foundation. The generous grant will be distributed over a three-year period beginning in 2024.
“We are grateful for this award. Funds will support our operations and mission to bring enriching art experiences to all members of the community,” said Kathryn Vaughn, Co-chair of The Dove Block Project Board of Directors. “All programming at The Dove is free of charge to participants thanks to grants like this one from the Max and Marian Farash Charitable Foundation, individual memberships, corporate sponsorships, and donations.”
The Dove Block Project, now in its third year, is known for building a creatively connected community in downtown Geneva. The Dove welcomes a steadily growing number of visitors and participants of all ages to its workshops and exhibits. In 2024, programming was increased to meet growing demand with an emphasis on free school break workshops for children. The Dove recently completed a series of interior renovations to enhance the experience for visitors from throughout the Finger Lakes region as they experience art-making and view contemporary art exhibitions. A popular 27-seat micro-theater supports video content and an art-themed movie series.
This growth has been accomplished with generous community partners and a team of hard-working volunteer board members with expertise in art, gallery management, art history, architecture, finance, art education, design, marketing, communications, Arthur Dove scholarship, and the history of Geneva and the Finger Lakes.
