Following a recent visit with the Ontario County Sheriff’s Office to discuss the uptick in crime plaguing Upstate and Western New York, Congresswoman Claudia Tenney unveiled her Law Enforcement and Border Security Plans.
Tenney also reintroduced the Local Law Enforcement Protection Act to protect qualified immunity for police officers serving at the state and local levels nationwide. Her Law Enforcement Plan includes legislation to support our law enforcement officers, ensure they can enforce the law and that they have all the resources and protection they need. One of Tenney’s top priorities in Congress is supporting our community law enforcement officers.
Rep. Tenney said since President Biden has taken office, more than 5.8 million illegal immigrants have crossed the Southern Border, causing havoc in communities nationwide, including in NY-24. In March, Tenney met with Customs and Border Patrol agents at Buffalo Border Patrol Sector to hear firsthand the struggles they face as they work to secure our Northern Border. However, even with what she calls is their “brave work,” this past fall and spring, there was an 846% increase in migrant crossings at the Northern Border Swanton Sector in the North Country.
Rep. Tenney said her plan highlights her commitment to supporting commonsense solutions to ensure this crisis ends and those responsible are held accountable.
“As part of my ongoing commitment to safeguarding our communities, today I released my Law Enforcement and Border Security Plans, which details my efforts to support our communities’ safety and security,” said Congresswoman Tenney. “Throughout my tenure in Congress, I have remained committed to creating legislation that stands against the “defund and demoralize the police” movement, which demonizes police. Our plan supports public safety and brings our communities together. While migrant surges may not be new, the magnitude of this current crisis is unprecedented. That is why I have repeatedly called for the impeachment of President Joe Biden and Department of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas over this crisis and introduced legislation aimed at securing our borders. I remain committed to fortifying our borders, restoring safety to our streets, and championing the principles that make our nation secure.”
