A letter was sent home to parents of one local school district addressing rumors of an infestation of mice at one of its schools.
Clyde-Savannah Superintendent Michael Hayden said a video shared last month appeared to show a mouse near a teacher’s desk and was allegedly filmed at the Elementary School. Hayden said that the video, along with other isolated events, prompted the district to implement additional pest control measures in its buildings.
A March 22nd inspection of the schools by the State Department of Health resulted in no mice being found. However, an inspection by the same state agency on Tuesday turned up isolated evidence of rodent droppings in the main kitchen, serving line area. There was no evidence of food being contaminated.
Hayden added the district receives a monthly report from its pest management firm, which reported no activity in March.
