A student was arrested on Thursday for allegedly making an online threat against the Palmyra-Macedon Central School District.
According to Palmyra Police, school administrators were alerted to a handwritten note circulating on social media, which claimed that a school shooting was planned for a later date. Administrators quickly alerted the School Resource Officer and Director of School Safety.
An investigation led to the arrest of a student under the age of 18. The Juvenile was arrested and will face Felony charges of Making a Terroristic Threat and will have their case handled through Family Court.
Due to the age of the offender, information is limited. The Police Department said no students were in direct harm and it appears the threats were made without merit.
The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
