    Use caution while traveling outside. Wear appropriate clothing, a hat, and gloves. Keep pets indoors as much as possible. Make frequent checks on older family, friends, and neighbors. Ensure portable heaters are used correctly. Do not use generators or grills inside.

State Police Identify Victims, Drivers in Deadly Seneca Crash

State Police have released the names of those involved in a deadly two-vehicle crash that happened Saturday afternoon in Ontario County.

The accident happened just after 1 o’clock on State Route 14A near Hastings Road in the town of Seneca. Troopers say a Kia sedan traveling south crossed into the northbound lane and collided with a Dodge Ram pickup.

One passenger in the Kia, 47-year-old Edwin Montanez of Syracuse, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver, 45-year-old James Hughes, and another passenger, 39-year-old James Bush, also from Syracuse, were taken to the hospital with serious injuries.

The driver of the pickup truck, 30-year-old Nathaniel Blakely of Williamson, was treated at the scene and released.

Route 14A was closed for several hours while accident reconstruction crews worked the scene. The investigation is ongoing.
